Research team

The research team is led by Dr. Robert McLeman, Associate professor of Geography at the University of Ottawa.

Genevieve Gilbert, MA, completed her dissertation "Adaptive capacity, adaptation strategies and migration in the Canadian Prairies during the Dirty Thirties: Lessons for drought-migration processes under future climate change". See the Research Products section of this site for a shortened version of ther thesis that has since been published in the scholarly journal Population and Environment.

Julia Laforge has completed her MA dissertation "Social capital and its role in 1930s drought adaptation and migration in Saskatchewan.

Dr. Michael Sawada heads the LAGGISS where the GIS modeling for this project is carried out.

Sam Herold, MSc and Zoran Reljic, a PhD candidate in Geography, created the first generation of GIS models for this project. S.Kate Ploeger, another PHD candidate in Geography, has taken over managing the GIS model.

Amina Hasan, BSc. Biology; Minor in Geography, designs and maintains the project website.
